2016 - 2026

Lemon was a rescue beardie who spent 7 years in terrible conditions. We took her into our home and our hearts, and after several emergency vet visits, she started to get healthy again. she was bright and curious and loving from the moment we met her, and moreso The more she healed. She loved snuggles and napping with dad on the couch, exploring the house and the front stoop and garden. She loved climbing and hiding and making us come find her. She was always so patient her humans. She was gentle, sweet, and every now and then she’d get the zoomies and be rambunctious until she fell asleep in a corner. She loved her mom and dad, she loved sitting and basking on the front stoop, on weekends she loved family breakfast on the stoop and wouldn’t eat her salad until everyone had their food in front of them. She watched out for us, she knew when we needed cuddles, when we needed a laugh, and she constantly entertained us with her quirky behaviors. She would play tricks on us, but even more, when one of us was gone, she would wander over to our shoes or laundry and sit in it, in the scent of her dad or mom, and fall asleep there. I never thought a reptile could have such a deep internal well of love, but lemon proved me wrong. We miss you, beautiful little girl. You went peacefully, without pain, and that is a gift in itself. We will always miss you. There’s an emptiness to our home now. A dark empty enclosure you used to climb around in. The blanket we cuddled you in. Your favorite spots in the house. An Empty salad dish. Containers of bugs that won’t get eaten. A front stoop that feels cold and sad no matter how much sunshine is outside. It won’t hurt this much forever, i know. You left us with so many beautiful memories. The hurt just shows how much love there was in our lives because of you. You earned your wings, baby girl, you’re a real dragon Now. Fly high, and roam the endless fields and cliffs and deserts and forests, eating all the bugs and salads and fruits you want. Rest easy, beautiful girl. Your body won’t hurt anymore from the neglect of your previous owners, and you won’t need to take that icky medicine anymore. Just always remember our snuggles and our love for you. You really were the best.
